A Mantle Clock in the Louis XVI Manner

Description

Constructed in alabaster, and surmounted by a gilt bronze figure of a Grecian muse, wearing the laurel leaf crown of a victor, and a holding a lyre, signed ‘Habert’; the clock of breakfront form, with a running gilt bronze band decorated with acanthus leaves; the scrolling corbelled sides housing the centrally situated circular enamelled face clock, delineating the hours in Roman numerals, and having a visible anchor escapement, and signed Wm Roskell Paris; the twin train eight day movement striking the hours on a bell.
